Project 1 : Movie Poster

Project task & overview:
Through combination of self-expression, natural and man-made object drawing, architectural lettering, tonal values and rendering, develop freehand drawing skills as well as colouring skills using any colouring medium and choosing the right colour palette to capture the essence and express the genre of the film.

Design intention:
Once I got the project brief of creating a movie poster, my mind immediately raced back to the picture of a human figure sculpture that I had saved in my phone last year. It was created by artist Daniel Popper and is named "Thrive". A storyline popped up in my head and I instantaneously got inspired to create a nature-themed movie poster. In the poster, the sculpture is surrounded by wilt trees and ruins, signifying the death of all living things. The sculpture represents the skeleton of the last human to die in the world, with the first trace of nature growing out from the lungs of the skeleton, ironically absorbing the nutrients from the remains. The piece is all done in dark and neutral shades for a gloomy tone except for the small piece of nature which seems vibrant and glowing. "Once the last human dies, the last threat to nature is gone, and nature thrives once again. "

Reflection:
Throughout this assignment, I have learnt how to Illustrate architectural forms and space through visualization and expression of space in the form of freehand drawing. I had also implemented tgc of intrapersonal skills and lifelong learning by learning independently and resiliently as we are not allowed to go back to the campus. Besides that, thinking and problem solving skills are are implemented by thinking creatively during the creating process of the poster.
