Project 1: Geometry and Form: Diagramming Architectural Principles
Project task & overview:
In order to learn from precedents, we are required to analyse their design objectives and principles, not limited to site and contextual approaches but also exploration of solids, planes, lines and frames in architectural design. We are to produce drawings and models that puts emphasis on the elements of architecture and architectonics that generate architectural form and space. Our task is to investigate how spaces are created from the making of architectural and constructional elements: architectonics.
Design intention:
My design intention is to analyse the design objective and principles of precedent study assigned to me, which is the Shrimp by UID Architects and investigate how spaces are created through diagramming and model making.
Reflection
Throughout the project, I have learnt the ability to recognise architects and their works, the ability to translate the analysis into architectural diagrams and the ability to create basic architectural compositions of solids, planes, lines and frames. I have also implemented the tgcs of interpersonal skills and communication skills by understanding team dynamics and communicated in all settings with my group members as well as discipline specific knowledge by putting theories of design learnt into practice.
